Peace Out 2009

What happened to 2009?

by Dustin on November 29, 2009

Time really seems to go by so fast. It seems like just yesterday was the beginning of 2009, but really it is almost over.

I guess the good news is I have been staying busy, mostly with work stuff. I am finishing up a C# winforms application now, well part of it. It will be version 3.0 of this application. The application will be used by a facility manager of a large data center, that the company I work for built.

On another front, this blog, I decided to change the theme out and when with Thesis Theme. So far, so good. I hope that this theme will help me focus more on the content of this blog and less on the theme/design. I have changed the theme more times, than the number of post I have!

feedly

by Dustin on February 16, 2009

If you are like me you might use google reader to view your countless rss feeds. Well I came across a pretty cool firefox extension that makes google reader awesome!
Check it out @ http://www.feedly.com/

It basically takes the feeds you have in your google reader account and displays them in more of a magazine / blog / web site layout. It is absolute genius!

You will benefit from having your feeds in logical folders, because that is what it uses to divide the feeds up – which I need to do a better job doing! It makes it easy to see what is going on in a manner that is not so dry.

If you use google reader and firefox this is one you have to try out.

Mid February Update

February 15, 2009

I have not made regular post because life has been busy!
At work I am finishing up writing a user manual for some software I coded. Creating a manual is not exactually too exciting, but none the less it is a great learning oppurnitunity and gives me a chance to do some much needed software testing.

Mind in Disarray

January 19, 2009

Do you ever have the feeling that your mind is in complete disarray, or cluttered and turning at some off the wall beat. I don’t know why but I seem to be going threw this fustrating state of mind. Maybe it is the weather or the economy, but I think for some reason I [...]

Value Logistics

January 10, 2009

One thing I always try to do is create value in everything I do. Sometimes I create value that goes undelivered or unreceived, because of my lack of communicating this newly created value.
One of my top priorities in 2009 will be to deliver the value I create and of course continue creating value. [...]

Rewire My House?

January 3, 2009

It is looking like I am going to end up having to rewire my house.  The house was built back in the 1950’s and currently has no grounded outlets.  Some past home owners tried to patch things up by adding some GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit-Interrupter) which is an acceptable substitute in some cases.  I pulled [...]

2009

December 31, 2008

2008 is coming to a quick close and 2009, a new year, is creeping up on us ever so quickly.
It seems like djvu. Last year around the brink of 2008 I was pining to get a blog going, so I wrote a post called “Another Year, Another Dollar” or something to that effect. [...]

Thoughs on Chrome

December 30, 2008

Well I will start by saying that after using Chrome for a little while I have migrated back to Firefox.  I really like Chrome, but it is missing some key items that I really need.
I enjoy using a shared bookmark service to keep all my bookmarks synced up between computers.  I currently use Delicious and [...]

Long Time, No Post

December 27, 2008

I have spent some time trying to figure out what to do with this site (dustintownsend.com). I tried it out as a blog, then I tried it as a micro-blog using Tumblr, but now it is back to a normal blog. I am planning to keep my Tumblr up and running as a [...]

Purchased a house

September 20, 2008

I have been looking at purchasing some real estate for a little over a year now, and I looked at many different types of properties…from condos, duplexs, townhouses, build it yourself houses, tiny houses, and finally normal single family homes.  I made offers on a condo – didn’t work out, then made an offer on [...]
